I would like to share with everyone a short passage in Italo Calvino's book "The invisible cities", which for me contains a beatiful description of what a team is. It is my translation, I hope it is understandable, because the original is very poetic.
Marco Polo describes a bridge, stone by stone.
- But which is the stone that supports the bridge? - asks Kublai Kan.
- The bridge is not supported by this or that stone, - answers Marco, - but by the line of the arch that they form.
Kublai Kan remains silent, reflecting. Then he adds: - Why do you tell me about the stones? It's only about the arch that I care.
Polo answers: - Without stones there is no arch.
