This weekend I was listening to the Apple earnings webcast and there was a mention of the term “cross pollination”. I’m familiar with the biological concept I can extrapolate the content to business practice something like: Like teams sharing ideas and processes to create synergy and lead to new ideas and process that possibly would not have been developed by a single team in isolation. Or something like that. . . . I was wondering if are any articles on the concept. I tried a couple of Google searches with little success. Thank you

Where I've heard the term used it's usually been around situations where ideas and practices from one area have been applied in a different one. For example HR might borrow some ideas from Marketing to help them get buy in for a new set of policies and procedures or Design might engage with their own Finance department for ideas around development of a new Finance module for an IT product the company produces and sells.
